Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships (08/24-29/09)

Three athletes from the Saugeen Track and Field Club turned in solid performances at the National Junior Championships this past weekend in Charlottetown, PEI.  

Rita Rudell of Oliphant won gold in the women’s high jump in a jump off with a personal best leap of 1.78m, demolishing her own Saugeen Track and Field Club record which was formally set at 1.73m.  Rudell also took silver in the women’s heptathlon with a score of 4615, finishing within the top 6 of competitors in each of the 7 events.

Alex Pilar of Port Elgin just missed the podium with a 4th place finish in the men’s hammer with a throw of 50.71m – a new personal best for Pilar and also a new STFC age class record.  Pilar also competed in the men’s discus, finishing 11th with distance of 43.39m.

Jordan Collison of Southampton placed 9th in the men’s 3000m steeplechase event in a time of 9:56.51.
